What we collect and why

When you request a quote on this website

The Quick Quote form asks for the service you need, your vehicle registration, make, model and year, whether you have a working key, engine or warning-light details where relevant, where the vehicle is, your name and telephone number, and optionally your email address and a message. We use this to identify your vehicle, give you a price and arrange the work. We rely on this being necessary to take steps you have asked for before providing a service.

Form submissions are stored on this website, which is hosted by Hostinger, and a copy is emailed to autobahnlocks@gmail.com, a Google (Gmail) account, so we can respond.

When you call or message us on WhatsApp

If you phone or message us, we receive your phone number and whatever you choose to tell us, such as details of the vehicle, where it is and photographs. We use this to respond and to carry out the work. WhatsApp messages are handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy.

When we carry out key work

Before making or programming a key we ask to see proof that the vehicle is yours or that you are authorised to have a key made — normally the V5C and photo ID. This protects you and the vehicle.

When you browse the website

Our hosting provider records technical information such as IP addresses, browser type and pages requested in server logs, to keep the website secure and working. We do not use analytics or advertising tracking on this website.

Third-party services on this website

• Hosting: the website is hosted by Hostinger, which processes server logs and stores form submissions on our behalf.
• Email: quote notifications are delivered to our Gmail account, provided by Google.
• Fonts: the website’s typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser information when a page loads.
• Google Business Profile photos and reviews: some pages show photos and reviews from our Google Business Profile using widgets from SociableKIT. These load from SociableKIT’s servers when you scroll near them, which shares your IP address and browser information with SociableKIT, and images may be served by Google. SociableKIT’s own privacy policy applies to that content.
• Social media: links to our Instagram, Facebook and TikTok profiles and to Google take you to those platforms, which apply their own privacy policies. We do not embed their tracking on this website.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking. Third-party content described above, such as the Google Business widgets, may set its own cookies when it loads; those are controlled by the provider concerned.

How long we keep information

We keep enquiry and job information only for as long as we need it to respond to you, carry out and record the work, deal with any follow-up, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. After that it is deleted.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers named above, where it is needed to carry out a job you have asked for, or where the law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it to be transferred. Contact us using the details above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
