All Car Keys Lost Manchester

All keys lost means there is no working key anywhere, so the vehicle cannot be opened, started or driven to a garage. It is a different job from replacing a key when you still have one. Autobahn creates a new key for the vehicle from scratch, codes it to the immobiliser and tests it before leaving — at the roadside, not the dealership.

Why this job is bigger than a spare key

When a working key exists, the vehicle already trusts something and a spare can be added to it. With nothing at all, there is no starting point — the key has to be originated. That normally means three separate pieces of work rather than one.

  1. Opening the vehicle

Entry without damage, so the locks and the diagnostic port can be reached. Forcing a door or drilling a lock creates a second repair bill on top of the first.

  2. Recovering the key information

Either the mechanical cut, the immobiliser data, or both. Depending on the vehicle this comes from the lock itself, from the car’s modules through the diagnostic port, or from a module removed and read on the bench.

  3. Cutting, coding and testing

A new key cut to the vehicle, coded to the immobiliser, remote or proximity functions paired, then everything tested before we leave.

This is why all-keys-lost work costs more than adding a spare, and why having a second key made before you need one is the cheapest version of this job you will ever buy.

What we need from you

Proof of entitlement
Normally the V5C logbook and photo ID in the same name. Creating a key to a vehicle from nothing is exactly the work that should come with checks.
Registration, ideally the VIN
Lets us confirm the immobiliser system before setting off, so we arrive with the right key and the right equipment.
Where the vehicle is
Driveway, car park, multi-storey or roadside. It affects access, power and how long we need on site.
Any old keys
Even ones you think are useless. A key you wrote off sometimes still holds usable data.

What affects how long it takes

  • The immobiliser system — some are straightforward through the diagnostic port, others need a module removed, read on the bench and refitted.
  • Security timers. A number of manufacturers impose a deliberate waiting period during key learning as an anti-theft measure. Nothing shortens these; they are part of the vehicle’s design.
  • Key type — a basic transponder key is quicker than a smart or proximity key.
  • Key availability. Most blanks are stocked or quickly obtainable; some less common vehicles need one ordered in.

We give a realistic assessment once the vehicle is identified, rather than an optimistic figure over the phone that falls apart on arrival.

Which vehicles can be done this way?

Support is genuinely vehicle-specific. It depends on make, model, year and the system fitted rather than the badge, and it changes between generations of the same car. Send the registration and you will get a straight answer — including an honest no if that is the answer.

Vans are covered as well as cars, and commercial vehicles often differ from the passenger model they share a platform with.

Common questions

Can this be done at the roadside, or does the car need recovering?

At the vehicle, in almost all cases. An immobile car is the normal starting condition for this job, so the work is built around coming to you.

The exception is a small number of vehicles where the required module sits somewhere that genuinely cannot be reached on site. We would tell you that before attending rather than after.

My keys were stolen rather than lost. Does that change anything?

Yes, and you should say so when you call. Where the vehicle’s system allows it, keys can be re-learned so the stolen ones no longer start the car.

That turns a worrying situation into a closed one. Report the theft to the police and your insurer as well, particularly if your address was attached to the keys.

I have one key left but it is damaged. Is that still all keys lost?

Possibly not, which is good news. If the vehicle still recognises the chip inside a broken key, the job can often be done the simpler way.

Do not throw a damaged key away before someone has looked at it. See car key repair for what can usually be salvaged.

What if the vehicle is not registered to me?

It is usually still workable, but it needs sorting before we attend. Lease vehicles, company cars, finance agreements and recently purchased vehicles all have legitimate routes.

Tell us the situation when you call so we can tell you what proof will be needed.

What ‘originating’ a key actually means

With no working key the vehicle has nothing to authorise against, so the key has to be created from the car’s own data. In practice that is three distinct pieces of work, and any of them can be the difficult one depending on the vehicle.

Entry
Opening the vehicle without damaging locks, glass or door seals, so the locks and diagnostic socket can be reached.
Mechanical key data
The blade profile, decoded from a lock or read from the vehicle’s key code, then cut.
Immobiliser data
Read through the diagnostic socket where the system allows it, or from a module removed and read on the bench where it does not.
Deleting the lost keys
Where the system supports it, the missing keys are removed from the vehicle’s memory so they can no longer start it.

Why one make is an hour and another is an afternoon

Where key data lives
Accessible through the diagnostic port on many vehicles; held in a protected module on others, which then has to be removed and read.
Security timers
Some manufacturers build in a mandatory waiting period during key learning. It cannot be shortened.
Key type
A basic transponder key is quicker to supply and code than a proximity key.
Parts availability
Most blanks are stocked or quickly obtainable; a few vehicles need one ordered in.
Manufacturer restrictions
A small number of systems genuinely require franchised-dealer access. We tell you that before travelling, not after.

If the keys were stolen rather than lost

Say so when you call. Deleting the missing keys from the vehicle matters far more in that case, and where the system allows it that is done as part of the job. Report the theft to the police and your insurer too, particularly if an address was attached to the keys.

Availability, call-out and price

All-keys-lost work is the largest key job there is, so nobody should be guessing at the cost. We identify the system from the registration, explain what the job involves and confirm the price before attending — 24 hours a day, with no call-out charge.

24/7 availability

Call or WhatsApp at any hour, any day of the week.

Fully qualified

Key programming, diagnostics and ECU work carried out by a qualified technician.

No call-out charge

You are not charged simply for us travelling to the vehicle.

Price confirmed first

The price is agreed before anyone attends, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Areas we cover

All-keys-lost work is the largest key job there is, and it always happens at the vehicle because the vehicle cannot be moved. It is covered across the whole service area.

No working key at all?

Send the registration and where the vehicle is. We will confirm whether it can be done on site and what is involved.
