How keyless actually works
The vehicle constantly emits a low-power signal. When a valid fob comes within range it answers, and the car permits entry and starting. Keeping a keyless vehicle secure

Keep it well away from the front door and outside walls, shield it in a pouch you have actually tested, and store the spare with the same care rather than in a hallway drawer. Find out whether your fob can be put to sleep when it is not moving — many can, and on some vehicles it has to be switched on.
If a proximity fob is lost or stolen, act on it rather than simply replacing it. Where the vehicle supports it, the missing fob can be removed from the car’s memory so it no longer opens or starts the vehicle.

Is keyless entry less secure?
